Urge Congress to reinstate current funding  for the National Guard Counterdrug Programs in 2011

The National Guard Counterdrug Program provides support to law enforcement agencies in their efforts to interdict the flow of illegal drugs into our nation. The program partners with national anti-drug coalitions to support their efforts to disseminate their anti-drug messages to the public and provide alternatives to drug use and substance abuse.

In order to have continued success, it is vital that funding levels be restored, at minimum, to the FY 2010 level.

HEALTH CARE PLAN

Alcohol and drug addiction is a chronic disease for which there are effective and community based prevention and wellness programs, strategies, policies and activities. Research over the last two decades has proven that drug and alcohol addiction is both preventable and treatable, and recovery is a reality for millions of Americans.  Therefore, the entire continuum of care must be a critical component of health care reform.  We are working to ensure that in addition to substance abuse prevention, treatment, recovery, and full and equitable parity for mental health and addiction is included in the final legislation.
